UPDATE: All sold. See the final prices below.
Today, on GSA Auction Watch, we have a bumper crop of classic cars for auction by the government. The auctions all end in the next 5-6 hours, so get your final bids in!
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Sold for: $55,075
It’s got some surface rust, likely from sitting in an impound lot with no one to polish it with a diaper. Loos like it’s got a few performance parts under that whale tail, too.
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Sold For: $17,075
Not nearly as collectible as the 930, but it’s still a solid, air-cooled Porsche with 149,690 miles on it. It will need some love, though: it looks like someone used a crow bar to remove the stereo.
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
I’m desperate to know how this one ended up in the hands of the feds. It’s got a four speed and a 427 and, judging by the current bid price, it’s been noticed by Corvette enthusiasts.
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Sold For: $9,025
Much like the pair of 911s, you have to option for the less costly, but still fun version with this 1980 model. This one unfortunately comes with an automatic, but it’s also an `80 `Vette, so compromises abound.
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
Sold For: $20,001
Alright, alright alright. It’s time to indulge my your high school car dreams. This 1971 Chevelle likely isn’t a real SS model, but you don’t care.
Happy bidding!

Oh yes, that is win. Straight outta Bad Boys too
![]() 05/12/2015 at 08:55 |

What are the chances that this was impounded because COCAINE? What else is the whale tail for if not for doing lines?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 08:55 |

MOAR COCAINE!
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:14 |

I feel like this was stolen from my post yesterday on Steve’s article about government website. If so, please add a hat tip.

I don’t need no freaking stereo. Just rev it more.

Pedant mode.
That shot is out of Bad Boys 2, where the hero car is a 575 Maranello.
/Pedant mode.

They probably were going to be a good value, that is until now . Yet again Jalopnik spoils a chance at a deal. Heh.

I’ve written a few posts about gsaauctions.gov. Must have missed your comment on the story that I didn’t read.
I just reported on what I found on my own.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:22 |

How many lines of cocaine were done on that whale tail? Many, I would guess. Many.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:22 |
|
I’m certain there is a 1980’s Porsche engineer who would explain every reason for the shape of the rear deck lid, citing things like improved airflow to cool the engine and reduced aerodynamic lift, but you shouldn’t trust them because they were high on cocaine.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:23 |

That white 911 is a deal.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:24 |

To be *that* guy... It was a 964 Turbo in Bad Boys.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:25 |

You damn right it’s limited. No cup holder, no back seat. Just a shiny dick with two chairs in it. I guess we the balls just draggin’ the f*ck along.

The image quality is pretty bad, but it’s actually baby blue.
Not sure if that’s better.

That 911 SC is over priced already.

It is really just a high performance VW Beetle.

In that case, great minds think alike! Sorry for false accusations. I love the GSA auctions, although I have never pulled the trigger as the descriptions are less than ideal.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:29 |
|
In bad boys “the car” was a 965 Turbo II, even more rare, and expensive...
Sorry, had to do it.

Holy shit, you're actually a real life manifestation of Dennis Reynolds! Of course the article of which the author has written several was stolen from your comment on another article!

Really wish you guys covered this once in a lifetime event last year.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf…
Btw, they run auctions every quarter. Even though most of the cars are beat up drug dealer cars, there are some gems in there.

That black 930 has been on GSA auctions in the past, always with a reserve I believe. It’s also been mentioned on Jalopnik before. Looks like it’s finally going to find a home now.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:32 |

Not to mention quite a few continuity issues, it changes from a 550 to a 575 a few times.

I would Outlaw the shit out of that 991 SC
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:38 |

I thought Bad Boys 1 had a 993 Turbo

Racecar, anyone?
This vehicle is leaking fluids, The intiror is in bad condition, The front dashboard is ripped and busted, There is no carpeting on the passenger side floor, The upholstery is in poor condiiton and the seats are very worn, This vehicle has 149,690 miles, This vehicle is operational,

Are you sure it was actually called the 965 turbo II? I thought it was either a 964 Turbo S or 964 Turbo 3.6...

Noticed it in the link. I like it more.

Alright, time to check out what’s available in NC.
Semi Trailer, riding mover, trailer mounted pump....son of a bitch.

Most if not all look close to or already at market value so I don’t think anyone is going to get a deal out of these except the Gov.

baby blue 911 SC? yaaaaaaaassssssssssssss.

On this auction site you can also buy a used UH-60A BLACK HAWK, its a bit more money but you can buy a flippin’ Black Hawk!!! I love the Porsche and Corvetts on there, but the Black Hawks wins it for me.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:47 |

So here we have:
3 Coke heads
1 Murderer
1 Yellow Corvette
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:48 |

I’m guessing there’s still a few kilos in the dash. The car could pay for itself, in say, Miami.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:49 |
|
I don’t know how many people on here can actually make a 50k commitment at complete random
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:51 |
|
Look at it this way: You’re taxes just got minimally cheaper.
Side note: Are you from Lubbock? I went to school there.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:51 |
|
Ballin’ on a budget in this case.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:52 |
|
It should have been 96”4” wrong key there, but other than that, yes, the “2” is use to differentiate 3.3 from 3.6 engines.
For 964’s there was the 3.3 turbo, then the 3.3 turbo S, these are your “run of the mill” turbos, and even those are rare.
Then there is the “Turbo 2” or “turbo 3.6” same thing, this are very rare, and then, there is the Turbo s with the 3.6 engine, about 90 of this were made, I’m not sure about the number.
The car from the movie was the Turbo 3.6 (Turbo II, not the S model) it was on sale not too long ago.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:53 |

To cover the massive intercooler that lives above the motor?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:53 |

It didn’t fit my definition of “an awesome car.”
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:53 |
|
LOL
![]() 05/12/2015 at 09:58 |
|
Not so sure about that turbo, it’s gonna need a repaint likely and a lot of love, at that point you’re probably going to be right around retail on a 105k mile example, if not more. If it was a 993 though i’d be throwing down bids right now.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:00 |
|
Minimally is key but I see your point. Yes from ye ole Lubbock. It has been very rainy and unseasonably cold so far. You wouldn’t recognize it. Everything is green and rather lush.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:08 |
|
Bad Boys 1 = 1994 (964) 911 Turbo, the Porsche in the post is a 930 from the early eighties.
Bad Boys 2 = Ferrari 575M Maranello.
I know I am being pedantic and probably sound like a shit-head know-it-all, but such is the burden of my OCD.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:08 |
|
Clearly, that Porsche is white. With a brown interior.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:13 |

I see that car as white. Is that dress thing again?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:15 |

Came here to say this.

Does Guy Fieri know about this yet....
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:17 |

Could they have taken worse pictures? Can’t see the whole car in any of them
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:18 |
|
This picture gives me anxiety? I don’t know enough about 911’s to be sure, but are all the electronics cut or is that how it is supposed to look?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:22 |
|
I’d rather give the previous owners the money.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:22 |
|
Close for me, but needs to be a hard top and and painted white. Otherwise it’s perfect.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:22 |
|
It’d be a project to be sure, but a blank slate 911 is very appealing.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:25 |
|
Dammit. I thought I was the only one watching these.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:25 |
|
With the work it requires that 911 SC is quickly approaching market value and the reserve isn’t yet met.....

![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:28 |

Yep. In the 80s, even German engineers cocained.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:29 |
|
oh god, please lets avoid another ‘dress’ thing.
seriously, in the pics on the GSA site, its baby blue. other than the specific pic that was used in this article, its baby blue w/ a blue interior. either that or ive had way to much coffee this morning and need to go for a walk
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:30 |
|
Partial agree; I would rather have the T-tops but since everything else is there, I'd settle for the rag top....now if I can just find where I left that $50k....

![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:35 |

Hasn’t this one been for sale for a while now?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:39 |
|
Why is the VIN ‘unlisted’ ?
Anyone......??
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:41 |
|
I suspect that SC has a reserve thats just shy of $20K, since the bid deposit is $1960. It used to be that the bid deposit amounts were set at 10% of the reserve price, pretty transparent if you knew the rules. Two of these cars have made reserve, and the top bid is in excess of 10X the deposit, so I suspect that still prevails. A nice clean SC would be in the $30K neighborhood; if the reserve is at $20K the SC doesn’t sound like such a great deal with all the mess plus unknowns.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 10:42 |

It’s like Craigslist. Good lord people don’t know how to take a picture of a whole car.

Forget the cars. You can also buy a Blackhawk.

I can tell you exactly why the black 911 has a rust spot right there. It's where the hook on the stretch towline hit when it dislodged from the vehicle towing it. Alternatively where the crappy thin wire from the rental trailer hit when it snapped after trying to pull it up.
- Done both of them with equally "lucky" hits, avoiding the front windshield.
Edit: The damage on the white one is just heart dropping. All that bloody destruction and they didn't even make away with the stereo. I bet it didn't even have the front panel when they did this. To think they could make more money unscrewing the gear knob...
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:10 |
|
Actually you’re right, I’m probably thinking of it with t-tops. I don’t think there was a non-t-top hard top in those years.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:14 |
|
So a quick google leads me to believe that there were hardtop convertibles, i.e. removable hardtop, but no true hardtops.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:19 |
|
I agree, but they usually have awesome price-tags. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:21 |

Whats the difference b/w 965 Turbo II and 964 Turbo?
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:22 |

I’m just imagining someone pouring a bag of cocaine on the tail, and watching it fall through the louvers into the intercooler, only for them to get very mad and throw their Startac through the rear window

The 964 Turbo is still my ultimate dream car (or maybe a Singer 911 :-) ). First time I saw, this car was in Bad Boys, and I’ve lusted after it ever since. Too bad they’re insanely expensive now.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 11:47 |

No thanks, I do not like to support auctions as i see them as policies of police extortion, and who knows if any of these items were seized in asset forfeiture.

It’s got a K&N sticker! Good for at least 15 extra horsey powers.

My dad had an ‘80 911SC in that same baby blue. No whale tail though. Was that car ever gorgeous in person. It was in much better shape than this one. If heaven made noises, they’d be the noises this engine makes.

I’m gonna go with successful pyramid scheme mastermind on the ‘Vette.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 12:04 |
|
Got any literature to explain that? Based on what I’ve seen the 930 Turbo is considered 1, and the 964 Turbos are all 2 technically. Where do you see a 964 Turbo 1 and a 964 Turbo 2? I’m pretty sure officially this is a 964 Turbo 3.6.
![]() 05/12/2015 at 12:04 |

I can see some practical considerations for the heli however. Beyond being able to fly it. But probably similar to the Porche’s in maintenance come to think of it. So n’mind!

Good point. All the military branches, NASA, etc. have staff photographers. Maybe the ‘Administration’ photog was busy taking action shots of a calculator adding some BIG numbers.
